Matthew Countryman is an Associate Professor of History and the Director of the Arts and Citizenship program at the University of Michigan at Ann Arbor. He visited the University of Iowa in March 2014, giving several lectures and workshops with History Department graduate students and the Obermann Center for Advanced Research. The subject of his talks centered around the publicly engaged scholarship being conducted at the University of Michigan, and the ways in which the University of Iowa might develop our own graduate curriculum for public history and publicly engaged scholarship.
